** Cheraw and
Chesterfield tied during the regular season, each with match records of
5-1. The tie-breaking procedure calls
for 1) a consideration of the head-to-head matches between the tied schools
(they split, each winning one match), 2) a consideration of the team scoring
more points in the two matches between the two schools (Cheraw 201 – Chesterfield
195). Based upon the second
tie-breaker, Cheraw is the season champion.
CHERAW HIGH ACADEMIC BOWL INFORMATION Chesterfield County School District's Academic Bowl competition began over 20 years ago to provide a showcase for the academic knowledge and skills of the students in the district's four high schools. Each high school competes
in six matches--one home and one away match with the other three high schools
beginning the first Monday in November of each year and continuing for six weeks.
Matches consist of five rounds - Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies
and General Knowledge. Students may
compete on one or more of these teams. The season culminates in
an annual awards banquet in January with recognition for an overall winner as
well as teams earning the most points in each subject area. Also, two members from each school's squad
are selected for an All-District Academic Bowl team and recognized with
individual plaques at the annual awards banquet. |
